Tevez: Mancini treated me like a dog

CARLOS Tevez is ready to return to Manchester City but more importantly, he wants to help the squad win the Premier League title.

The controversial striker aired his views Monday as he prepared to return to England following nearly three months of being on leave unauthorised in his native Argentina.

“I hope I can help City be champions,” he told Fox Sports.

But Tevez had unkind words for City boss Roberto Mancini whom he accused of treating him “like a dog” and conniving with the club for failing to tell him the truth about what happened surrounding his refusal to play against Bayern Munich.

Mancini, however, said Tevez can play a role for City if he apologises for his insubordination.

Tevez’s long-running rift with Mancini started in September when he refused warm up and come on in a Champions League match at Allianz Arena.

Mancini’s tone of voice when he was asked to warm up in the second half of that game upset him, revealed Tevez, as the manager was entangled in an argument with striker Edin Dzeko at that time. Tevez added he was willing to play against Bayern, and not as what was speculated.

“He (Mancini) ordered me like a dog to warm up,” said Tevez, adding he got angry because City did not tell the truth publicly as to what really transpired at the bench.

His anger, according to him, forced him “to grab my things and come (to Argentina) without telling the club.”

The situation, he added, upset him so he headed back home to be with his family.

Tevez has been linked with several clubs since his fallout with Mancini and City but he eventually failed to leave the outfit in the January transfer window.

But things may have changed and now he wants to make peace with the Eastlands outfit and their fans.

“I’ve decided to return for personal reasons, turn around the situation and win over the fans,” he said, adding his followers turned on him after the Bayern Munich incident because they were poorly informed.

Mancini had previously declared that Tevez’s career with City is over but his stance has softened after their 1-0 win at Aston Villa on Sunday, and said he demands the Argentine to issue an apology.

Tevez has reportedly lost around £10 million ($15.8 million) in fines and lost earnings since he went AWOL (absent without leave).
