CARLOS Tevez might yet see action for Manchester City again.
That possibility was raised on Thursday after the controversial Argentine striker was named to the squad’s revised 25-man squad in the Premier League.
As this developed, the 27-year-old Tevez tried to calm nerves back at City after denying published reports by a German magazine about his remarks about the team.
In the interview, Kicker magazine published that Tevez branded as “strange” the way he had been treated at City and he did not care what people thought about his attitude.
Tevez’ representative said he categorically denies talking to the publication about his relationship with City.
The Argentine’s future has been in a limbo for months now.
He has not seen action for the club since September and speculations rose that he would leave during the transfer window.
But no transfer was finalised despite interest from Seriea A sides Inter Milan and AC Milan, and French team Paris Saint-Germain. City have also nixed negotiations about any loan deal for the embattled player.
Although he kept his slot with the outfit, Tevez is set to face fresh punishment.
That is if he goes on with his plan to play in a testimonial game for former Boca Juniors teammate Martin Palermo in Buenos Aires on Saturday.
Tevez is due back in Manchester but promised Palermo he will definitely play in the testimonial.
Since becoming AWOL (absent without leave), Tevez has already lost £9.3 million in fines from City.
While not on the pitch, Tevez has been seen whiling the time away playing golf.
He has reportedly appealed to the Premier League against the six-week fine imposed by the Eastlands side against him.
Tevez left Manchester United in 2009 to join City. He played a key role in the outfit’s success in the FA Cup last season.
AUTHOR’S OPINION
If he plays the way he used to be if ever he suits up anew for City, Tevez might get a chance to reconcile with Roberto Mancini. That would be a good sign for the team who need to regroup if they wish to lift the Premier League trophy this season
