Tevez appeals £1.2 million Manchester City fine

Out-of-action Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez launched an appeal against a fine passing the £1-million mark handed to him by current club Manchester City for his continued absence.

The striker, who as of this day has not yet retuned from his unsanctioned Argentina trip, has decided to speak with the heads of the English Premier League after City slashed off several weeks’ worth from his salary.

According to reports the total amount of the fine covers six weeks’ wages, amounting to approximately £1.2 million.

A statement from the Premier League confirmed that the striker did indeed come to them protesting the decision and pleading for reconsideration.

“The Premier League received correspondence from Carlos Tevez last night giving notice of Mr. Tevez’s intention to appeal against a disciplinary sanction imposed on him by his club, Manchester City,” a statement from the league confirmed.

They went on to say that they plan to at the very least hear the striker’s appeal.

“Premier League rules allow for players to appeal disciplinary decisions under Section K and the Premier League Board will consider this request at the earliest available opportunity.”

This would count as Tevez’s second appeal against a fine, with the first one coming after his refusal to warm-up during Citys’ crucial Champions League match with Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

Tevez has reportedly already lost a total of £9.3 million due to other fines and withdrawn payments due to his refusal to return to Manchester City.  Furthermore, the closing of the current transfer window will see him remain with the club at least until the summer.

Although there have been efforts from City to somehow unload the striker, there have currently been no offers to match what the club believe is a €30-million (£25 million) market worth.

The club has had talks with several outfits including AC Milan, Inter Milan and Paris Saint Germain, all to no avail.
