An unhappy Chris Samba publicly called for a termination of his contract with current club Blackburn Rovers.
The 27-year old captain’s transfer request came as the Ewood Park club struggle at 18th place, sporting only three victories in their last 10 Premier League matches.
“When a couple don’t get on they get a divorce,” Samba told The Sun, “and that’s what me and Blackburn have to do.”
Samba revealed that his commitment to the club has wavered significantly enough that the team need to start looking for a replacement.
“Blackburn need players who are 100 per cent for the club, and I’m not,” he continued.
“The only way to solve this is for them to let me go. It will be very difficult for me to play for this team again.
“I’m at the end of the road here. I’m not going to change so, for their good and mine, they must sell me now.”
According to Samba, the amount of effort that he poured into the club has not been reciprocated.
“I’ve put my body on the line for this club, even playing when I was injured,” he said. “Nobody can say I have not given everything for Blackburn.
“Look at any photos of me playing for the team and you can see my commitment when I’m on that pitch…But things have to work both ways.”
The skipper added that part of his disappointment with the club involved a string of promises, including big-name signings, thrown at him in order to convince him to resign. Those promises, he said, have gone unfulfilled.
“I signed a new deal last January right at the end of the transfer window because [club owner] Venky’s told me they had big plans,” Samba recalled. “Names like Ronaldinho were mentioned and they promised there was going to be a lot of investment in the team.
“It hasn’t happened and I’ve decided I can’t stay anymore.”
Samba continued that his career growth would depend on him signing with a club that meet his level of commitment.
“I want to go to a club with ambitions like mine, which wants to go forward,” he said. “Blackburn aren’t going forward at all. If anything we are worse off than a year ago.”
The player also had complaints about manager Steve Kean’s inflexibility and refusal to hear his side.
“I’ve told the manager how I feel but there’s not much point because the owners decide what happens,” he said. “I told them last week in a conference call how I felt and that I wanted to go and they just said ‘no’.”
Samba has been with the club since signing with them in 2007 for a whopping £400,000.

Samba has to find a way to extract himself from this sinking ship before he drowns. No use waiting for the top men to have a change of heart and actually start investing in Blackburn. Poor sap, just wants to get what he deserves.
