Mourinho not sorry for Supercopa antics

Controversial manager Jose Mourinho will not issue an apology for his behaviour during the Super Copa brawl, according to his spokesman.

According to Eladio Parames, Mourinho believed that his actions were for the best interests of Real Madrid when he aggressively thrusted a finger in the eye of Barcelona’s assistant manager Tito Vilanova.

‘Jose will not ask for forgiveness,’ Parames told reporters. ‘He firmly believes that he was defending the interests of Real Madrid.’

The incident occurred in the middle of a melee that erupted after Real Madrid’s Marcelo made a hard tackle on new Barca signing Cesc Fabregas.
Aside from his act on Vilanova, Mourinho was also seen making gestures ridiculing Lionel Messi and Daniel Alves.

The Real Madrid manager came under fire for his antics, with comments largely coming from Barca players. Despite this, Parames revealed, Mourinho is not at all affected by the reactions and accusations.

‘[Mourinho] doesn’t care what the press says, he only cares about what Madrid’s fans think.’

Mourinho’s antics, which were caught on video, had caused massive media and player reaction, with accusations aimed at the manager insisting that the manager is quickly becoming a blemish on the Spanish league.

‘He is ruining Spanish football,’ said Barca defender Gerard Pique. ‘It’s not the first time that this happened, it has happened many times, and something has to be done.’

Barca coach Pep Guardiola shared Pique’s sentiments, accusing Mourinho of ‘[staining] Spanish football.’

The incident has also earned the criticism of the usually-biased Madrid media and the public at large. A poll in a newspaper El Mundo revealed that 85% of respondents felt that the accusations hurled at the Real Madrid coach were accurate.

However, despite the widespread anger towards Mourinho’s acts, UEFA officials hinted at the manager escaping charges, as his antics were not recorded on the referee’s official report.
