Mourinho denies claims of leaving Real Madrid

There is no way I’m leaving. No way.’

These were the very words that came from Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho in response to a statement sent to a Spanish TV station indicating his desire to exit the club.

According to reports, the statement was supposedly sent to Canal+ TV by spokesperson Eladio Parames, Mourinho’s personal spokesperson.

The station aired the news immediately the following morning, quoting the text messages sent from Parames’ phone. The broadcasters stated that Parames aimed for the messages to be put out to the public, and not considered as off-the-record information.

The messages were said to have stated that Mourinho felt isolated and without support from the club’s board of directors. It further stated that the manager was planning to hold a press conference to officially announce his resignation.

In response, Parames said that the mobile phone was running on a pay-as-you-go service, and was something he purchased upon Mourinho’s joining with Madrid. He claimed that he had stopped using it.

Parames furthered that the phone, which was in his drawer, must have been obtained by someone who afterwards used it to send the messages while pretending to be Parames.

‘Only those who don’t know me can dream, make up or believe I may leave Real Madrid at this stage,’ Mourinho said. ‘I believe many people were surprised by the quality football showcased by Real Madrid during the preseason and it would be surprising news to them if I left the club now.
Impossible!’

The manager continued to praise ‘fantastic’ Madrid president Florentino Perez, with which he claimed to have a good relationship. Mourinho insisted that his ‘Madridismo’ has grown greater, ‘even greater than that of some pseudo-Madridistas…’

‘I wish to apologise to Madridistas, and only to them, for my attitude in our last game,’ Mourinho furthered, alluding to the recent melee with Barcelona during the Super Cup final match. ‘Some people are better adapted to the hypocrisy in football as I am, and they hide their faces and speak in whispers deep inside tunnels.’

Mourinho was most recently put under public criticism for video footage that showed him jumping into an ongoing scuffle between Madrid and Barcelona and afterwards thrusting a finger into the eye of Barcelona assistant manager Tito Vilanova.

Mourinho was said to have had no plans of apologising for the act, as he as ‘defending the interests of Real Madrid,’ according to an earlier statement made by Parames.

There had been no statements from Madrid president Perez regarding Mourinho’s behaviour.
