ROBERTO Mancini’s patience over Carlos Tevez has grown thin. In fact, the Italian boss now wants his problematic striker to be out of Manchester City for good.
Tevez may have seen his days at City over after he refused to come on as substitute during their 2-0 loss against Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Tuesday.
“If I have my way, he will be out. With me, he’s finished,’’ said an irate Mancini. “If we want to improve as a team, Carlos can’t play with us.’’
Manicini said he would discuss the matter with City’s Abu Dhabi owners and have them make the final decision about Tevez.
The Argentine striker was supposed to be tapped in as a second-half substitute but he refused, angering Mancini.
“That’s a decision for him (Mancini) to make,’’ Tevez told Sky Sports through a translator, when asked to comment on Mancini’s remarks.
Mancini added Tevez may have been upset by not being fielded as the first substitute because he favoured Nigel de Jong for Edin Dzeko 10 minutes into the second half.
“I decide this, not Carlos,’’ Mancini stressed during a press conference. “If one player has a lot of money (to) play for Manchester City in the Champions League and he has this behaviour, for me he can’t play, never.’’
Relations between Mancini and Tevez turned sour when the latter asked the club to leave in January and then pushed for a transfer during the offseason to be closer to his family in Argentina. But the Argentine stayed with City when no team met their reported 50-million pound asking price.
Tevez was City’s captain when they won the FA Cup last May. It was the outfit’s first major trophy since 1976.
The Argentine striker has started just one Premier League game out of their six outings thus far – during their September 10 win over Wigan when he played for 61 minutes.
“I’ve been a professional during all my time here,’’ added Tevez, who joined City in 2009 after a stint with rivals Manchester United.”Last season I was the best scorer. I have said I wanted to leave for family reasons but I keep trying to do my best.’’
Mancini also showed disgust over Dzeko’s lethargic performance in their losing match against Munich. “He was disappointed but he played a bad game. This is the last time that he has this behaviour.’’
