Manchester City is reaping the fruits of their big-spending spree this early.
And Sergio “Kun’’ Aguero showed them why he is worth their record-signing 38 million pounds.
Aguero made a spectacular debut for City on Monday when he scored two goals as a substitute in their 4-0 bludgeoning of Premier League newcomer Swansea at joyful Etihad Stadium.
Edin Dzeko put the hosts ahead in the 57th minute before Aguero made his mark upon being fielded in the 62nd minute.
The Argentine striker nearly found the back of the net right on his very first touch and was finally on target in the 67th with an easy tap-in of Micah Richards’ cross before scoring again in injury time with a superb long-range strike.
Aguero also played a key role in City’s third goal when he chased down his own chip over Swansea goalkeeper Michel Vorm and although the ball went over the touchline, he managed to kick it back over his head for Villa to flick into the net.
All told, Aguero, a former Atletico Madrid standout, completed his dazzling debut show in just 30 minutes.
“He is a fantastic striker!’’ said an ecstatic City manager Roberto Mancini, heaping praise on his prized acquisition whom he also branded as a “photocopy’’ of Brazilian football great Romario.
Even Swansea manager Brendan Rogers was awed by Aguero, stating the Argentine displayed his ability to be a world-class player.
Aguero, son-in-law of Argentina legend Diego Maradona, thus became the first player to connect twice on his league debut since February of 2005 when Tottenham Hotspur’s Mido did the trick against Portsmouth.
With Aguero and Silva around, City boast of having two of the most dynamic attackers in the league as the club hopes to see their expensive signings to deliver the goods for them this season.
For the Swans, the loss was a rude welcome to the English top-tier tournament. They were completely outclassed as the hosts dominated the whole proceedings, with City goalkeeper Joe Hart springing into action just once when he palmed away a long-range try by Stephen Dobbie in the 53rd minute.
