Ferguson tips Giggs as capable replacement

Sir Alex Ferguson believes Ryan Giggs can succeed him as manager for the Red Devils.

The current United boss believes that the Welsh national has the right personality, enough respect earned from the club and its players, and the capability to shoulder responsibility to maintain success at Old Trafford.

Giggs has served for 21 years under the 70-year-old manager, making him well aware of how the Scot operates and makes the team function.

Recruiting from within the team was also a strategy adopted by Manchester United rivals Liverpool, who managed to keep their success from the 1970’s to 1980’s by hiring from within their own ranks.

The next game that Giggs will appear in will be his 900th appearance for the club – adding to a list of his accomplishments with the outfit.

He has won 12 Premier League titles, four FA Cups and two Champions League trophies – making his success almost unparalleled.

Giggs has also signed a one-year contract extension with the Red Devils that will bring the 38-year-old to his 22nd season with the club.

Other people feel the same way as the United boss does about Giggs, including veteran Red Devil Paul Scholes who also declared his colleague capable of filling Ferguson’s shoes should when the Scot decides to finally retire.

In a magazine interview, Scholes shared that “People have talked about Jose Mourinho. It can change quickly – it’s about who is successful at the time. Whether they are British or foreign, you just want the best man for the job. I could see Ryan Giggs becoming manager.”
