Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish feels his star striker Luis Suarez has come back a better player and individual after serving his suspension from competition.
The Uruguayan’s first game after a nine-match ban is at Anfield where the Reds will host Tottenham Hotspur for a crucial Premier League match.
Suarez was barred for eight matches because of throwing racist remarks in a verbal warfare with Manchester United’s Patrice Evra. The striker was then slapped with an extra game for his obscene gesture against Fulham fans in a league game.
The Scottish manager feels that the 25-year-old attacker has shown a more intense and focused look while in training after being out for a long spell.
“I think he has learned something over the time he’s been out,” said Dalglish. “I think you learn something every time you go to your bed, whether it’s good, bad or indifferent is open to conjecture.
“We are just glad to get him back, so we are not going to go over old ground. It’s amazing how now he’s coming back we are talking about something that’s not related to his abilities or the goals he’s scored, but we want to concentrate on that now.
“For us, we are much stronger as a squad of players and a football club with Luis on our side – back fit and well and ready to play – and he is fit and he’ll want to play, won’t he? But he’s learned something, I’m sure.”
With Suarez fit to play, Dalglish finally finds his three most expensive players can be on the pitch together.
The Scot was surprised to learn that the three – Steven Gerrard, Andy Carroll and Suarez, have only spent time on the pitch together for a total of 69 minutes.
“We’d better put them together in training then to see if we can play them all together,” he joked.
“But they have been injured at different times. If they weren’t there, they couldn’t play together.
“It is a positive for us that we now have that to look forward to.”
Though the squad looks complete, Dalglish still shared that the battle against the Spurs, currently third in the Premier League, won’t be easy.
“They really are a very good team, as good as anybody in the Premier League – we know the quality they have got.”
