Upon facing the Football Association in the John Terry investigation, Chelsea full-back Ashley Cole will state that he did not hear Terry make any of the racist comments towards Queens Park Rangers’ Anton Ferdinand.
The issue, now to reach FA’s doorstep as a full-fledged inquiry, puts the 30-year old in the accused seat for allegedly calling Ferdinand a “fucking black cunt” during his side’s 1-0 loss against QPR.
The accusations, which Terry insistently denied, were spread by fans basing it on an online video showing a close shot of the centre back as he supposedly made the remarks.
Cole, Terry’s teammate, is expected to be ordered to appear before the FA authorities as the video showed him walking past Terry as the words were allegedly uttered.
But according to The Sun, Cole will face the FA and testify that he personally did not hear any of the suggested type of exchange take place between the two players.
According to reports, the investigation also places at risk Terry’s position as England captain, and a decision from the FA to uphold Ferdinand’s complaint could see him lose his spot.
Because of this, the FA are apparently put under intense pressure to conclude the investigation before England, managed by Fabio Capello, clash with the Spanish team at Wembley on November 12.
Despite the investigation’s conclusion being a determining factor on Terry’s participation in the national squad, Capello stated that he will not strip the player of his captaincy if the inquiry has not ended by the stated date.
Although vehemently denying the accusations and said that he was completely open to a full investigation on the matter.
‘I welcome the FA inquiry and look forward to clearing my name as soon as possible,’ he recently stated.
This would be the second time that Terry has seen his captaincy put at risk; an earlier incident saw him lose the spot after rumours spread of an alleged affair between him and the former girlfriend of Manchester City’s Wayne Bridge.
Additionally, a suspension of Terry from the position of English captain could come also with the end of his career in international football.

OPINION: One wonders how far the FA presume they could go in this investigation. It seems that all they have to go on at the moment are Ferdinand’s accusations, and a video tape that seems to show Terry saying what he’s accused of saying. Aside from the words of the accuser and accused, it looks like it depends on Cole. And if he testifies that he did not hear anything, the FA could find themselves at a dead end.
Luis Suarez confirmed that he still dreams of one day playing in Spain, but reminds everyone that he’s still happy to play with Liverpool for the time being.
