STAMFORD Bridge, with its 134 years of gleaming football history, was recently invaded by a blonde-haired teenage pop star.
And in the (thankfully) empty arena, Chelsea stars Fernando Torres (27) and Frank Lampard (31) stood witness.
The entire event unfolded with the arrival of pop star Justin Bieber, who spent the day with the Blues players for a bit of knocking about and kicking a football around.
The Canadian singer, whose line of massively popular hits includes the infamous Baby, Baby, took the opportunity to show off some of his admittedly decent football skills.
This was much to the awkward dismay of Torres who is said to be on the selling table for £20 million, and Lampard who, before his winning move against Manchester City recently was being constantly sidelined by manager Andre Villas-Boas.
Perhaps adding to the atmosphere of the encounter was an incident where, as seen in a video, after Bieber showed his skills Fernando Torres tried to balance the ball on his neck and then flick it upwards, only for him to lose control of it.
It was then Lampard’s turn, as the pop star, famous for having his Baby, Baby be one of YouTube’s most hated videos as of March this year, volleys the ball past him to smash into the back of the net.
After the showdown, Bieber was given an all-access, VIP-treatment tour of the Chelsea dressing room, where the players swore they listened to his songs before every match.
Chelsea was the next stop for the teenager who earlier had gone to Barcelona wearing all-out colours for some casual street football kickabout.
There were no available comments from manager Andre Villas-boas, who although was not hesitant in giving a few words regarding Torres.
‘Fernando has had his run in the past,’ said AVB about the underachieving striker. ‘By the way, he’s training, he’s nearer to competing with Didier [Drogba] every time.
‘They are very, very near each other and, again, it’s just for me to decide what’s best for the team.’
Chelsea currently stand third in the English Premier League table, with 7 points away from leaders Manchester City.
AUTHOR’S OPINION
This is too funny. Torres struggles on the pitch and now gets egg in his face care of Justin Bieber (who seems to have moves to rival the overpriced striker). Abramovich? Are you watching this?
