Barton trains guns on rival midfielder

JOEY Barton is at it again.

This time, the “beneficiary’’ of his rage is Karl Henry.

The Queens Park Rangers captain blasted Wolverhampton midfielder Henry by expressing his dislike for the latter whom he accused of `trying to hurt people.’

Barton got angry after taking a nasty challenge from Henry in the final minutes of QPR’s impressive 3-0 win in the Premier League last Saturday at Molineux.

Both players had a heated exchange after the contact and then later, Barton once again used his Twitter account to rap Henry.

The outspoken Barton told Henry to “keep his trap firmly shut’’ and likened the latter to a Sunday league player.

In danger of attracting an investigation from the Football Association because of his tirades, Barton insisted on calling Henry as “Kelvin Henry.’’

Barton told Sky Sports’ “Goals on Sunday’’ programme that “Kelvin Henry loves it sticking his foot in and trying to hurt people. Why doesn’t he do it when it is 0-0 in the game? He should concentrate more on playing and less on talking a good game.

Last season, Barton got furious at Henry following vicious tackles from the latter during a game between the Wolves and Newcastle, Barton’s former squad.

There is indeed no love lost for the pair as shown in their latest meeting.

Barton added: ” No one knew Kelvin Henry before he started kicking lumps out of me in theta game (last season).’’

But Barton is getting the positive results out of those confrontations, the latest of which was that QPR victory.

Barton, who joined the Hoops last month after being made available on a free transfer by Newcastle after criticising them on Twitter, converted his first goal for QPR after receiving a cross from Shaun Wright-Phillip.

AUTHOR’S OPINION
Barton’s reputation as a whimper is growing at a rapid pace. Good for him QPR is getting some positive results. If taunting him could distract the Hoops’, other squads should try emulating Henry’s tactics.
