Paris St Germain coach Carlo Ancelotti recently ruled out rumours suggesting that Brazilian pair Kaka and Alexandre Pato are coming to the French outfit.
According to the former Chelsea manager, the rumours had no basis and his side have no plans of attempting to get the two to Paris.
‘Pato is a player of Milan and he has a contract, so we are not interested in him,’ said Ancelotti, whose first match with PSG resulted in a 1-0 defeat in a friendly against Milan.
‘Right now there is no chance to sign KaKa,’ he continued. ‘We are in the middle of a transfer window and I will discuss with the club how we can improve the team.
‘I do not want to talk about individual cases, like Pato or Kaka, both of whom are under contract.’
Word of the supposed bid began when French sources claimed earlier this week that PSG were allotting a significant amount – specifically £52 million – to attempt to acquire the two players. This is supposedly for Ancelotti to spruce up the roster and fine-tune the squad.
The manager continued, however, stating that while there is no possibility of them going after either of the players, they do plan on exerting effort to acquire attainable reinforcements.
‘We will work to sign some players, but in order to do so, it is necessary that clubs are sellers,’ he explained.’
Ancelotti’s statements were given ground by Pato himself, who after the match against PSG stated that while he did manage a quick word with his former manager, the notion of a transfer was never brought up.
‘I said hello to Ancelotti but we didn’t speak about any (potential) transfer,’ said Pato, who scored the only goal during that match.
The Italian manager added that he expected to be thrown similar questions, with the transfer window staying open for a whole month.
‘Unfortunately the transfer window is open for 30 days and I will continue to get asked these questions, but the answer’s the same,’ he said. ‘If it’s not our player I don’t want to speak about it because I don’t think it’s correct.’
Commenting on Pato’s performance, Ancelotti displayed a cool demeanor.
‘Pato played a normal game, he scored a goal,’ said the manager, unimpressed.
