CARLO Ancelotti just can’t take the lure of England and coaching in the Premier League again off his mind.
The former Chelsea manager on Monday said he is interested to call the shots for a league club once more when he decides to return to coaching.
Italian daily newspaper la Republica reported that Ancelotti wants to be linked with an England side again because “it is an ideal place to work for a coach.’’
The 52-year-old Ancelotti was fired by Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich last May and later took a one-year break from football.
Rumours circulated that he is being eyed by Italian club AS Roma and France outfit Paris St Germain but he preferred a return to England.
Among the clubs Ancelotti said he wants to coach are Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur. He also showed interest in mentoring the Three Lions.
“Arsene Wenger’s position at Arsenal is currently under fire and there will be a vacancy somewhere when Fabio Capello leaves the England post,’’ he added.
Despite naming the teams of his choice, Ancelotti said he is in no hurry to make a comeback.
Ancelotti is currently working as an analyst for Italy’s Sky TV.
After mentoring Reggiana, Parma and Juventus, Ancelotti became AC Milan manager in 2001, winning the Scudetto in 2004, Coppa Italia in 2003, and the Champions League in 2003 and 2007.
He joined Chelsea in 2009 and in just his first season as boss, led the Blues to a historic Premier League and FA Cup double.
The Blues failed to retain the title last season and this caused his eventual sacking. He was dismissed less than two hours after a 0-1 defeat at Everton on May 22.
AUTHOR’S OPINION
Arsenal should consider tapping Ancelotti when they eventually get rid of Wenger. Unlike Roman Abramovich, the bosses at the Emirates Stadium appear to be not short-fused.
Luis Suarez confirmed that he still dreams of one day playing in Spain, but reminds everyone that he’s still happy to play with Liverpool for the time being.
