Paris St. Germain manager Carlo Ancelotti revealed that representatives of Manchester City rebel Carlos Tevez are set to sit down for talks with the French club regarding a possible transfer.

While reports state that PSG are yet to make an official offer for the striker, the Italian manager stated that a deal is being put together and PSG’s football director Leonardo is at the helm.

PSG have become the most likely club to sign the striker after deals with AC Milan and most recently Inter Milan fell through as City representatives turned down the outfits’ individual offers.

“Everyone knows that we want a striker,” said Ancelotti.  “Carlos Tevez – it’s a great opportunity for us to have a great striker.  Today Tevez isn’t playing for Manchester City but he wants to play.”

The manager stated that although nothing is set in stone at the moment, he is confident that a good talk with the striker could convince him to move to Paris.

“Nothing is done,” Ancelotti stated.  “We have to talk with the player and with Manchester City.  I think that if we talk to Tevez, he will see he wants to come.  We hope to find a good solution.  I haven’t had him on the phone, not him or his agent.  It’s Leonardo who is looking after that.”

Possible concerns regarding the Argentine striker include his overall physical condition, with Tevez having been inactive since the Premier League match against Birmingham City last September.  Ancelotti, however, assures that the striker’s fitness does not worry him.

“Tevez isn’t a problem,” he said.  “He is a great player.  In 15 days he could get back into great physical condition.  If Tevez doesn’t come, we have the possibility of buying another striker.  In January it’s harder to get players.  And at the end of the month the transfer window is over.

I look forward to it ending because I am very stressed.”

Reports have suggested that Ancelotti was offered a long list of players for purchase, including Chelsea’s Fernando Torres. The striker, currently under heavy criticism for underperforming since his move from Liverpool a year ago, when Ancelotti was still Blues manager.

“There is a lot of choice for this January market,” the Italian said when speaking with reporters.  “Do you want the names?  OK, now I tell you the players the agents are offering on the market, officially or not: Carlos Tevez, Fernando Torres, Dimitar Berbatov, Pavlyuchenko, Edinson Cavani, Fernando Llorente.”

Tevez moving to PSG would make him the latest amongst a number of significant signings the club have accomplished, starting with Ancelotti.  More recently the club acquired Palermo midfielder and Tevez’s fellow Argentine Javier Palermo.
