IF he were to choose between Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur, Emmanuel Adebayor would rather be staying with the latter.

It is his ardent desire right now that he pleaded both teams to strike a permanent deal that would ensure he remains with the north London side.

The Togo striker’s insistence to keep his services at White Hart lane was all the more fired up when he banged in the team’s two goals in their 2-0 shellacking of Aston Villa in the Premier League last Monday that pushed the Spurs into third place in the table.

Since he arrived at the club on loan, Tottenham have experienced a resurgence in form and this prompted him to consider making his stay with the team to be permanent.

Over half of Adebayor’s wages is contributed by City and his signing needs a change in the Spurs’ wage scheme or City’s continuous assistance.

The 27-year-old Adebayor said he has learned to love his present squad under manager Harry Redknapp who was elated with the former’s latest performance that came on his return to the bench following a minor heart surgery.

Telling the Evening Standard that his confidence and life are back, Adebayor stressed he came to Tottenham to help the team get into the top four and feels he is doing well at the moment.

‘It’s always special to have a manager like Harry,’ added Adebayor as he praised Redknapp.

He said he is leaving it to the manager, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy and City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak to decide on his wish to be at Tottenham.

Adebayor added he would continue his charity work for his country and Africa until the end of his career. ‘We all play football to gain money, too, especially as I’m from Africa I have to give something back to my community.’

As he sees, Adebayor said Tottenham are now a better side than Chelsea.

‘However,’ he quipped, ‘Chelsea are Chelsea and I have huge respect for them. They might start winning all their games from now until the end o f the season.’
