AC Milan are contemplating on having controversial striker Carlos Tevez on their roster.
But before that materialises, they laid out one condition to make sure they get the right man.
Tevez must undergo – and pass—a series of thorough psychological test first before they dangle him a contract.
If the Argentine striker agrees and satisfy the Italians, he could be finally headed to Milan and put an end to his trouble-ridden saga with Manchester City.
JUST TO BE SURE
The Milan Lab, located inside the club’s Millanello training ground, is where the club want Tevez to be tested to ensure his mind is in excellent shape because the Serie A giants firmly believe that the player’s psychological condition would make them decide if they hire him or not.
They are said to be ready to offer Tevez a 25-million pound deal although that remains as vague as to where the Argentine would finally end up playing with after his days at City are over.
Tevez’s career turned sour since he insisted playing for another team to be near his family. It was worsened when he recently refused to come on as substitute during their losing match to Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
That incident ignited a rift between him and manager Roberto Mancini who later declared his playing career at City finished.
It led to an even worse scenario when Tevez was meted a disciplinary sanction equating to a two-week ban for making five breaches to his contract. The gap widened between him and Mancini and he was made to train by his lonesome.
As the heat became more unbearable, Tevez flew to his native Argentina hastily and did not attend their ensuing team practices. He is no longer training at City, signalling what could be the start of the end of his stint at the Eastlands side.
NOT INTERESTED
AC Milan became the latest candidate as to where Tevez could be headed after another Italian outfit, Juventus, declared they are no longer interested on him.
But the Milan bid is still without clear direction as City said they will let Tevez go if their demands are met and if there is a permanent deal that could be finalised by January.
The original 40-million pound value for Tevez is seen too high for Milan and it is still unclear if they can satisfy City’s demands.
City pay the 27-year-old Tevez around 8 million pounds a year and they want 4.3 million pounds for him to link up with another club on a six-month loan come the January transfer window. And for a permanent contract to be closed out, City apparently want another 18 million pounds.
Milan’s bid to have Tevez undergo a mind test is their idea of being assured that they get the right player. They want someone who is in his right frame of mind and this would be a key factor if they finally acquire him or not.
It looked like Milan are keen on landing Tevez even only on loan although City insisted they want a permanent contract to be settled.
PASSING IS KEY
But Milan are still confident they can have Tevez next season provided he passes the planned test.
If Tevez agrees to undergo cerebral assessment, the result of the test would be the main basis for what could be his final departure from City.
Although he has been criticised for looking only on the financial aspect of his career, Milan appear more likely as his next destination.
He may eventually be hired on loan or permanently, but all Tevez probably yearns at the moment is to finally cut his ties with Mancini and City — and move on.
That could be the wish of someone who is with a hale and hearty mind. However, Milan’s test, if it pushes through, still has the final say as to his mental state.
