The football world holds on as it witnesses the clash of the La Liga titans as Real Madrid and Barcelona collide for the season’s first El Clasico match.
Real Madrid are riding high, nabbing their 14th straight overall win with a form that has rocketed them to the top of the La Liga table. Barcelona, however, are struggling at second place to reinstate themselves as the powerhouse of the league.
The level of skill displayed by either squad is equalled only by the intensity of the rivalry that exists between them. And as Real Madrid march on undefeated, Barcelona await an opportunity to pounce and claw their way up the top of the La Liga table.
This match is that opportunity.
The return of Barcelona

I’m not going to deny it, Barcelona have not been the Barcelona I know. And because of this, of course Real Madrid would take advantage, and they have.
I’m not saying that it was pure strategy that got Real Madrid to the top, and nothing else. They are indeed a fierce squad and if anyone can claim the top spot from Barca it’s them.
But I reckon that considering how massive this opportunity is, Pep Guardiola’s men will round up every man they have, line up all their ammunition and fight to the death. No matter that their current form is inferior to Real Madrid’s so far: Barcelona have whipped Jose Mourinho’s men in their own home many times. I doubt they will have a problem doing it again.
Much props to Real Madrid for staying on top this long. But they’ll be facing Barcelona now, and I reckon they had better get ready for their first defeat of the season.
Got to be Real

Barcelona’s sabre rattling, in the form of parading a full-force lineup in their latest fixture, won’t frighten Real Madrid.
The Los Blancos love to remain at t he top of the La Liga table and winning this first “clasico’’ matchup this season would put them in the right course towards the trophy.
Jose Mourinho’s men surely do not want to suffer their first loss this term to their hated rivals. The Bernabeu faithful would frown on that and they want nothing but to see their beloved outfit crushing the Catalans right at their territory.
Lionel Messi may be the leading candidate again for the Ballon d’Or award but Cristiano Ronaldo will show everyone who’s more deserving, and they’re coming game is a fitting moment to do that.
