Citizens of Manchester prepare to witness the clash of its two biggest clubs embroiled in one of the bitterest rivalries.
The competition between these still-unbeaten league giants has recently intensified as Manchester City claimed a 2-point lead over United, toppling the Red Devils off the top of the Premier League table.
The rivals’ history shows the Red Devils with an overwhelming 7 wins in 10 of their encounters. However City are ahead with a current 8-game Premier League form of 7 wins and 1 draw, to United’s 6 wins and 2 draws.
With the match set in Old Trafford, United are faced with the challenge of defending their home turf, and hopefully reclaiming the top spot in the League.
For City, it is about trouncing their archrivals, denying them of reprieve and becoming the EPL’s newest force to be reckoned with.

It is an intriguing thought, Man U being kicked out of the number 1 spot. What makes it more intriguing is the fact that it’s now City who enjoy the view from the top.
But it is for this very reason that United could face City with more venom than they’ve shown this season. Aside from winning all matches at Old Trafford this season, United are facing their archrivals with a bitter taste in their mouth and an appetite for revenge.
Their history with Man City must suggest that defeating the visitors could easier than one may expect. Although City currently have better form, their advantage might not be large enough to cushion them against a raging Red Devils team.
United for the win.
City will crumble at Old Trafford by Wayne De Ville
The Red Devils will prove to all and sundry that City are just a flash in the pan.
After Sunday’s fixture, Sir Alex Ferguson’s men are on top of the heap again and Roberto Mancini’s side will leave Old Trafford wondering what hit them.
Home fans won’t let their squad down. They will add to City’s woes by chanting their hearts out to give Wayne Rooney, Chicharito Hernandez and the rest of United all the needed boost.
I expect Rooney to be in his usual best again. This is a crucial game so count on Rooney to perform big.
United will get the 3 points and reclaim the No. 1 spot in the league.
