Battle of the Manchester WAGs

As tight as the race for the Premier League title is, players from the two rival teams – Manchester City and Manchester United – have their own pieces of jewelry they can constantly stare at (among other things) when they get home.

Before, we showed you the sultriest, sexiest WAGs (wives and girlfriends) from Spain’s biggest rivals, Real Madrid and Barcelona. Now we turn to the original place where the term itself supposedly emerged: England.

For your pleasure, here are the hottest WAGs, past or present, from England’s bitter enemies. Feel free to take your personal favourite – after all, the only thing we can freely do is stare.

MANCHESTER UNITED

Emily O’Hara

The Red Devils’ Tom Cleverley may have a bright future ahead on the pitch, but we bet he is having the time of his life handling his business off it at present. Proof is that he is currently dating Emily O’ Hara.

The 23-year-old model from Warrington wanted to start off her career as a wedding planner but later realised that there were more opportunities if she went on the public stage. Discovered by a top modeling agency, she quickly became an eye candy for people.

She joined Miss Warrington Guardian in 2007. Though she failed to win, it didn’t hinder her from becoming successful.

Cleverley’s main squeeze certainly looks classy, like a woman you’d have a couple of glasses of wine before getting the chance to say hi.

Though she is still relatively unknown, her blossoming career alongside Cleverley’s will surely be in the stuff of headlines in the future.

Sophie Houghton

When you thought that Facebook is a place where you reconnect with old friends, we’re telling you that it’s a top place to meet new ones.  Federico Macheda can certainly tell you stories about it, especially about how it was with Facebook that he landed beauty queen Sophie Houghton.

According to reports, the Italian striker was persistent in poking and emailing Houghton until she finally submitted, agreed to swap mobile numbers and meet up.

And, like the saying goes, everything else is history.

Houghton was the Miss Intercontinental Liverpool in 2009 and continues her aspirations as an actress. She even studied to be one, in a drama school at Waterloo Road.

One thing to consider about this stunning lady is that she also has conviction. According to her, she isn’t one that hangs around because of convenience.

“If you drop me, don’t expect me to come back… coz I really won’t,” she shared in a social networking site.

If we were Macheda, we’d keep our eyes on the prize and make sure that she stays safely intact.



Edurne Almagro

Playing beautiful music to David de Gea’s ears is pop singer Edurne Almagro. Mostly known only as Edurne (the Madonna effect), she is a 26-year-old vocalist who came in sixth in a Spanish television series Operación Triunfo (a Spanish counterpart for Big Brother) in 2005.

Despite being five years older than the United shot-stopper, Edurne looks and certainly acts like a real WAG. With celebrity status and actual talent to match, she is sure to be one of the top non-player women in the football world – not just in England.

She can dance, sing and apparently act as well. Late last year, it was learned that Edurne landed the role of Sandy in Grease – the leading role in the play.

This woman can certainly keep eyes fixed and mouths ajar when she performs on stage. Maybe we can now see where de Gea’s performance fluctuation comes from.

Though he might not win them any championships this season, de Gea’s ability to land someone like Edurne makes him a winner in our books.  He can’t save any shots, but he can certainly score.






MANCHESTER CITY

Raffaella Fico

Among the WAGS in this list, Raffaella Fico is probably one of the most difficult to describe. This is quite possibly because there isn’t one way to say who she is.

Physically, she is beautiful. With curly locks that are clearly different than what one would imagine when picturing a WAG. The 23-year-old is also undeniably sexy. With her killer figure, it comes to no surprise that Italian bad boy Mario Balotelli went after this beauty.

Fico was part of Italy’s Big Brother where she rose to fame. Moreover, she put her virginity in auction for a million Euros. That alone should have captured everyone’s attention. She claimed that she wanted to use the money to study for her acting career.

She also was reportedly the mother of football superstar’s Cristiano Ronaldo’s son. Nothing was set in stone, but people went ahead anyway and assumed she was. So much for being a virgin.

To complete her bag of surprises, Fico claims that she is an excellent cook and knows all the skills needed to be the best housewife.

If she is the perfect combination of crazy and sexy, where do we sign up for the auction?



Tatiana Golovin

Aside from singers and celebrities, football players also find fellow athletes (with their toned bodies and we expect fierce personalities) equally beautiful. Thus is the case of Samir Nasri, who has his eyes fixated on former professional tennis player Tatiana Golovin.

Though born in Russia, Golovin is French. She is 24 years old and has had a lot of success in her chosen profession.

In her six-year professional career, she won two titles and at one time was ranked number 12 in the world.

Aside from her excellent performance on the tennis court, she is known for her beautiful physique and charming looks. Just ask Nasri, who we bet knows about it more than sorry blokes like us do.

Though a lower back inflammation stopped Golovin from playing competitive tennis indefinitely, people still race to see this beauty – whether on the street or from the stands, where she watches her beau.

We hope she can recover and start smashing some balls for us.



Frankie Sandford

While Wayne Bridge is considered a great player, he is also known for the beautiful women he has had by his side over the years. His ex-wife was model Vanessa Perroncel, he was linked to celebrity Kim Kardashian and – since December 2010, has dated The Saturdays‘ Frankie Sandford.

Sandford’s photos have graced the pages of different magazines lately and have won various recognitions for being a great performer and having a gorgeous physique.

Examples are T4 Awards’ Hottest Female in 2010, Zoo Magazine’s Hottest Body in the World in 2011 and Glamour Women of the Year’s Best Dressed in the same year.

The 23-year-old may have had her ups and downs with the media – especially about an unknown illness, but she remains the darling of Bridge’s eyes.

She is currently taking time off her performing career to try and recover and the word as of December 2011 was she was starting to recover and feel much better.

We sure hope she recovers so we can see more of her – in every way.

THE CHOICE: Raffella Fico

Though each WAG displays their own uniqueness, Raffaella’s confidence in herself is legendary. Putting your virginity up for auction for a million Euros (thereby proclaiming it as of such value) is the epitome of the kind of near-mental self-assurance we love. For this reason alone, anyone should choose Raffaella as the best among the pack.

She doesn’t stop there, though. Being the partner of Italian bad boy Balotelli is news in itself. Maybe they work out as a couple or Fico just brings out the fire in Balotelli. We really have no idea at this point but as lovely as she is to watch, the wheels working her brain are as controversial and intriguing.
